Oakland A’s pitcher Sonny Gray received an unexpected assist Sunday en route to picking up a 6-3 win over the Seattle Mariners.

In the sixth inning at O.co Coliseum, Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager ripped a line drive down the first base line that looked destined for extra bases. Miraculously, though, the ball hit the first base bag, bounced up in the air and landed in the glove of Gray, who tapped first to assure the putout.

Just like you draw it up.

Gray left the game after the inning, but the A’s bullpen allowed just two hits over the final three frames to give him his first victory of the season.
