The Columbus Blue Jackets didn’t come away with a win Wednesday night in their first foray into Stanley Cup playoff action since 2009, but they did prove to the high-flying Pittsburgh Penguins that they won’t be pushed around.

The Blue Jackets, who play a heavy, physical style of hockey, put a hurting on the Penguins’ scorers and stuck with Pittsburgh for more than 45 minutes before giving up the eventual game-winner eight minutes into the third period.

Brandon Dubinsky spent much of the night hassling Sidney Crosby (while also beautifully setting up Jack Johnson for the Jackets’ first goal), but the hit of the game came courtesy of 20-year-old forward Boone Jenner, who sent Penguins defenseman Rob Scuderi flying with a massive body check in the corner.

The Penguins won 4-3 to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series and prolong the Blue Jackets’ quest for their first playoff win in franchise history.
