Ryan SpoonerThe Boston Bruins recalled forward Ryan Spooner from the AHL’s Providence Bruins on an emergency basis Wednesday, and he will meet the team in Winnipeg for Thursday night’s game against the Jets.

Spooner’s speed and playmaking skill allow him to play at center or on the wing, which means he could replace veterans Jarome Iginla or Chris Kelly in the lineup.

Kelly picked up an injury in Tuesday night’s shootout loss against the Minnesota Wild and is considered day to day, per Bruins head coach Claude Julien. Iginla has missed Boston’s last two games with an injury.

Spooner, 21, has zero goals and 11 assists in 22 games for the Bruins this season. He has 45 points (11 goals, 34 assists) in 45 games for the P-Bruins.

In other Bruins injury news, veteran defensemen Dennis Seidenberg and Adam McQuaid have skated in Boston, but neither player is close to returning to the lineup.
