Zdeno Chara, Chad JohnsonThe Stanley Cup playoffs are set to begin this week, and — according to the folks over at Bovada Sportsbook — the Boston Bruins have the best chance of ending up on top when the grueling tournament is all said and done.

The Bruins are 7-2 favorites to hoist the most famous trophy in sports, followed by the St. Louis Blues (6-1), Pittsburgh Penguins (7-1) and Chicago Blackhawks (8-1).

The top-seeded B’s are also overwhelming favorites to represent the Eastern Conference in the Cup Final, with Bovada setting their odds of a conference title at 13-10.

That the Bruins, as Presidents’ Trophy winners, enter the playoffs as favorites is no big surprise, but the full odds drive home the point that the majority of the NHL’s quality teams this season are in the Western Conference. Though the East has two of the top three favorites in the Bruins and Penguins, the West has six of the top eight favorites, including the defending champion Blackhawks.

The Bruins begin their first-round series against the Detroit Red Wings this Friday night at TD Garden.
