1398807607_carlAfter his win at Richmond International Raceway in September 2013, Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards returned to the track Saturday and completed another strong finish.

Edwards’ No. 99 Ford Always Racing Fusion car started from the 16th spot, and he had weaved his way into the top 10 about a quarter of the way through the 400-lap race.

The NASCAR champion fought to stay within the top 10 for the majority of the race, but some issues with his right front tire on lap 292 forced him back to 26th place.

Edwards staged a late rally with 15 laps to go, however, fighting his way through the field to end up in ninth place when the checkered flag waved.
