Daniel SturridgeLiverpool received positive news Wednesday, when scans confirmed that Daniel Sturridge’s hamstring injury was less severe than previously feared.

Manager Brendan Rodgers substituted Joe Allen for Sturridge after 66 minutes in Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over Manchester City on Sunday, and Sturridge was grimacing as he limped off the field.

But the “small strain” Sturridge suffered won’t rule him out of Liverpool’s upcoming games, according to LiverpoolFC.com.

“Sturridge has since undergone further assessment with the club’s medical team at Melwood and a small strain was detected following a scan,” a club statement said. “The 24-year-old will now undergo a treatment program in order to try and be available for the trip to Carrow Road.”

Sturridge has scored 20 Premier League goals this season, helping power Liverpool to unprecedented goal-scoring heights and the top of the standings.

If Sturridge features against Norwich City this Sunday, it’s almost certain that he won’t play for 90 minutes. Liverpool will need him to be as close to 100 percent healthy as possible the following weekend when it hosts Chelsea.

Liverpool will claim its first Premier League title in 24 years if it wins its four remaining games. Sturridge will be keen to help the Reds race across the finish line.
