David Ortiz recently sat down for an emotional interview with Universal Sports Network to discuss the aftermath of the 2013 Boston Marathon.
The Boston Red Sox’s designated hitter recalled the 2013 World Series championship parade and how emotional it was when the team placed the Commissioner’s Trophy on the finish line on Boylston Street — the very line that more than 5,000 runners were unable to cross in April’s race. From the day of the attack and through the World Series parade, Ortiz explained how well the community rallied together and how important it was for the Red Sox to lift Boston’s spirits.
The veteran slugger went on to explain that the team wanted to “show the community how supportive (the Red Sox) can be — show them that we got their back just like they got ours.”
