The Derek Jeter farewell tour is off to a painful start.

The New York Yankees captain, who is set to retire after the 2014 season, stepped up to the plate against the Houston Astros on Tuesday night in his final Opening Day of his career.

Jeter won’t forget it anytime soon — mostly because he’ll be feeling the pain for a few days — all thanks to right-hander Scott Feldman who drilled the shortstop in the forearm during the first inning. It looked pretty scary, but Jeter remained in the game.

Retirement probably can’t come soon enough for Jeter.
