Whether he’s supporting his Toronto Raptors or making appearances in locker rooms (or trying to, at least), rapper Drake always manages to find himself connected to sports. ESPN is cementing that connection by naming him as the host of the 2014 ESPYs.

The ESPYs usually are hosted by actors or comedians, but Drake will be the third musician to host the award shows. Actor/singer Justin Timberlake was host in 2008, and actor/singer Jamie Foxx did it in 2003 and 2004.

Drake announced the news via Twitter with an ESPY-themed spoof of his “Nothing Was the Same” album cover, and the ESPYs confirmed in a tweet shortly after.

The ESPYs will take place July 16 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
