Some familiar faces will rejoin the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.
Dustin Pedroia and Koji Uehara will both return to the Red Sox after undergoing exams from the team’s medical staff on Monday, Gordon Edes of ESPN.com reports.
Pedroia, who was dealing with a wrist injury that kept him out of the lineup for Sunday’s game against the New York Yankees, underwent an MRI that showed no fracture, just inflammation, according to Edes.
Uehara didn’t pitch once during the Yankees series after experiencing stiffness in his throwing shoulder last Friday.
An MRI revealed no structural damage, but the Red Sox would like to at least have the closer throw a bullpen session before he returns to game action, manager John Farrell told ESPN.com.
Another injured Red Sox player, Shane Victorino, also was examined in Boston and cleared to begin a rehab assignment in Portland to test his strained right hamstring.
