Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler thought he was just going to steal second baseĀ in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels. Thanks to three errors by the Angels, he made it all the way home.

Detroit trailed Los AngelesĀ 1-0 in the bottom of the first with one out when Kinsler decided to run from first base on Hector Santiago’s full-count pitch to Miguel Cabrera.

After Santiago walked Cabrera, Angels catcher Hank Conger threw the ball far outside the reach of shortstop Erick Aybar, allowing Kinsler to easily advance to third. Mike Trout’s delayedĀ toss back to the infield and Santiago’s failure to make contact with CongerĀ secured Kinsler’sĀ slide into home to tie the game.

Cabrera also benefited from Santiago’s error, advancing to second base on the play.

Check out Kinsler’s unique trip around the bases in the video below.
