Boston Marathon bombing survivor Jeff Bauman called into WEEI’s “Dennis & Callahan” on Thursday morning to discuss his book “Stronger,” which he cowrote with author Bret Witter, as well as some of his memories from the fateful day.
Bauman is the man from the iconic photo, the man with no legs being pushed in a wheelchair by the cowboy hat-clad Carlos Arredondo. Bauman also is the man who was able to identify one of the accused bombers, so his story runs deep.
Still, when Bauman was asked if he ever wonders why he went to the marathon last year, he has few regrets.
“I don’t think about that stuff,” Bauman said. “I was just living my life, and I was there having fun, and it was a great time. It was my first marathon, and it’s not going to be my last. I was there supporting my girlfriend, who is now my fiancée.
“I wouldn’t change where I was. I was there living my life and supporting someone I love. I was there with friends and great people around me … and I don’t look at the past like that. I look forward.”
