Jim KellyAlthough Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly still has a ways to go in his treatment for sinus cancer, he’ll at least get to spend Easter with his family.

Kelly’s brother, Dan, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that as long as there are no setbacks, Kelly plans to travel home to suburban Buffalo on Friday and return to New York City, where he’s receiving treatment at the Lenox Hill Hospital, on Sunday.

“He’s doing pretty good,” Dan Kelly said. “We anticipate Jim coming home for this weekend. He’s put together a couple of good days in a row.”

Kelly underwent surgery in Buffalo last June to remove cancerous cells from his upper jaw, but tests done in March revealed the cancer had returned. He began chemotherapy April 8 and has two more sessions scheduled. Kelly also has radiation treatment five days per week.

“It’s a humbling experience, and it makes you feel good when so many people are out there praying for you,” Kelly said in an interview with ESPN New York earlier this month. “Just keep praying for me. I am going to need them.”
