Boston Red Sox closer Koji Uehara is on the road to recovery.
Uehara, who did not play in the Red Sox’s final three games of their series against the New York Yankees because of stiffness in his throwing shoulder, received good news Monday when an MRI revealed no structural damage in his right shoulder.
The good news continues to roll in for Uehara as Red Sox manager John Farrell told reporters before Tuesday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox that the closer will throw a bullpen session Wednesday.

The Red Sox could have two key pieces back this week, with second baseman Dustin Pedroia aiming to return to the lineup Wednesday, and, as Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reported, Uehara coming back as soon as Thursday.
