Monday night’s Los Angeles Kings-San Jose Sharks game got a bit heated at the end of the third period when Kings goalie Jonathan Quick went after Sharks center Joe Thornton.

Quick had been playing poorly to start the Stanley Cup playoff series, allowing 16 goals through the first three games, but the Kings were able to right the ship and on Monday were on their way to completing a comeback from a 3-0 series deficit to force a Game 7. Things came to a head after a 1-1 third-period tie became a 4-1 Kings lead, and, in an effort to get one in the net past Quick, Thornton laid a crosscheck on Kings defenseman Drew Doughty.

Quick didn’t take kindly to Thornton plowing over his teammate, and the former UMass Amherst netminder went after the 6-foot-4 Sharks captain. Quick’s teammates jumped to his defense, sparking a scrum, and bringing the total number of third-period penalty minutes to 80.

After the game, Kings forward Dustin Brown weighed in on Quick’s reaction.
