Kenny Ladler, Jason CroomVanderbilt safety Kenny Ladler was short on details while explaining his private workout with New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, which probably is wise just eight days before the 2014 NFL draft.

Ladler was among five Vanderbilt prospects whom Belichick worked out in Nashville prior to the Patriots coach running the Rock ‘N Roll Half Marathon last week.

“He’s a great, great guy,” Ladler said Wednesday on NESN.com’s Patriots podcast. “I got to talk to him. He was really great.”

Ladler currently is projected as a fourth- or fifth-round draft pick, and the Patriots need depth at safety. They have six players at the position, but only Devin McCourty and Duron Harmon should be considered locks for the 53-man roster.

Ladler is set to graduate from Vanderbilt on May 9, so draft weekend will be busy for the 6-foot, 207-pound safety prospect.
