Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Greene was removed from Saturday night’s game against the Vancouver Canucks after suffering a pressure cut on his right foot that bled through his skate and onto the ice.

While he appeared to be in close contact with Canucks’ goaltender Jonathan Quick and center Ryan Kesler leading up to the third period injury, Greene insists that it was the puck that cut his shin.

“I just got hit with a puck and just got cut. That’s it,” Greene told LAKingsInsider. “It’s just a pressure cut. It’s fine. It happens.”

Los Angeles went on to lose the game to Vancouver 2-1 thanks to a late goal by Canucks defenseman Brian Richardson.
