The Montreal Canadiens finished off a four-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs Tuesday night, and one lucky child looked destined to bring home a Max Pacioretty stick to remember the game by.

Destiny was briefly interrupted, however, when a grown man leaned in front of the boy and snagged the stick just before the little Habs fan could get his hands on it.

In a surprising show of goodwill, the surrounding fans pointed out the man’s error, and he gave the stick to its intended recipient.
