Marc-Andre Fleury Stands On Head To Make Incredible Shootout Save (Video)

Love the shootout or hate it, it was hard not to be entertained by the ending of Wednesday’s Detroit Red Wings-Pittsburgh Penguins game.

The star of the shootout — which became necessary after the Red Wings scored with less than two minutes to play in regulation and the teams completed a scoreless overtime period — was Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who robbed Daniel Alfredsson with one of the best saves you’ll see all season.

Alfredsson appeared to fool Fleury with a move as he bore down on the netminder, causing him to go down to the ice too early. Fleury managed to recover, though, whipping around onto his back and blindly using an outstretched glove to keep the puck out of the net.

Red Wings goalie Jonas Gustavsson was strong on the other end, as well, but he left Pittsburgh with a loss thanks to this bizarre shootout goal by Jussi Jokinen. Gustavsson went for a poke check on the Pens center, but the puck instead popped off his stick and straight into the open net.

Tough luck, Gus.

It was an overall good night for the Wings, though, as the one point they earned from the loss clinched their 23rd consecutive playoff trip to the playoffs.
