New York Rangers forward Mats Zuccarello helped his team take a 1-0 lead in Wednesday night’s Game 7 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers with a jaw-dropping pass to Daniel Carcillo.
After a scoreless first period, Carcillo got the Rangers on the board, but it’s Zuccarello who is deserving of all the glory. Flyers goaltender Steven Mason stood tall on a couple of close looks from the Blueshirts, but Philadelphia couldn’t clear the puck.
Following a couple of quick passes, Zuccarello took the puck near the side boards, bought himself some time, spun and whipped an incredible backhanded pass through traffic that connected with Carcillo’s stick as he easily tapped it in.
The Rangers went on and stamped their ticket to Round 2 with a 2-1 win.
