Minnesota Wild forward Matt Cooke added yet another questionable hit to his resume Monday night in Game 3 against the Avalanche.

Early in the second period, Cooke collided with Avs defenseman Tyson Barrie in the neutral zone, delivering a knee-on-knee hit in the process. The 22-year-old blueliner was in obvious pain and laid on the ice for several moments before leaving the game.

Shortly after the brutal hit, the Avalanche announced that Barrie would not return.

Cooke was assessed a two-minute minor for kneeing that Minnesota killed off successfully, but the veteran could very likely receive supplemental discipline by the league.

Update: The worst has been confirmed for Colorado. Sportsnet’s John Shannon reports Barrie will miss four to six weeks with an MCL injury.
