Meb Keflezighi, Marathon Winner, To Throw Red Sox First Pitch Tonight

meb keflezighiMeb Keflezighi will take his Boston Marathon victory tour to Fenway Park on Wednesday.

Keflezighi, who Monday became the first U.S. marathoner since 1983 to win the Boston race, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the second game of the Boston Red Sox’s series with the New York Yankees.

The 38-year-old San Diego resident blazed through the 26.2-mile course, crossing the finish line with an official time of 2:08:37, 11 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Wilson Chebet of Kenya. It was Keflezighi’s first Boston Marathon win.

The Red Sox dropped the opener of their three-game series Tuesday night, with the Yankees jumping on Boston starter Jon Lester early en route to a 9-3 win.

First pitch from Fenway is set for 7:10 p.m. Wedneday night.
