BOSTON — Michael Pineda was ejected from Wednesday’s Red Sox-Yankees game for pushing the envelope a little too far.

Pineda faced questions following his start against the Red Sox on April 10 for allegedly using pine tar on his throwing hand. The Yankees starter had the same foreign substance located on his neck during the second inning of Wednesday’s start at Fenway Park, and Red Sox manager John Farrell asked home plate umpire Gerry Davis to check the right-hander, at which point the pine tar was discovered and Pineda was ejected.

The Red Sox downplayed the significance of Pineda’s alleged pine tar use following his April 10 start in New York. The 25-year-old couldn’t have been any more blatant Wednesday, though, which is just dumb given that he obviously was under a microscope.

Pineda now will face a suspension as a result of Wednesday’s ejection. Check out Pineda’s stupidity in the photos and GIF below.
