Wil Myers knows what he’s getting into.
The Tampa Bay Rays outfielder makes his return to Fenway Park on Tuesday night, and the Fenway Faithful almost certainly will welcome him back with the “Myyyy-errrrrs” chants brought on last postseason by his costly error in Game 1 of the American League Division Series.
That miscue — letting a David Ortiz fly ball bounce at the warning track for a ground-rule double — led to a five-run inning in an eventual 12-2 win for the Boston Red Sox, the first of 12 victories on their way to a World Series title.
Myers told reporters before Tuesday’s game that he fully expects to hear the jeers, chants and catcalls raining down from the right field bleachers. Whether he’ll acknowledge or respond to them, though, the 23-year-old wouldn’t say.
“I don’t know. I haven’t decided yet,” Myers said, via WEEI.com. “Game-time decision.”
He doesn’t seem too worried about it, though. Myers said it actually was “kind of cool” to hear an entire stadium chant his name, regardless of the circumstances, and he joked about the experience in a tweet after arriving in Boston.

Myers is batting .232 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 25 games this season. He’ll play right field and bat sixth Tuesday against Red Sox starter John Lackey.
