donald sterlingLos Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is banned from the NBA for life, but that doesn’t guarantee he’ll give up ownership of the team.

In a landmark decision Tuesday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver issued a lifetime ban to Sterling as punishment for racist remarks that were recorded on an audio tape and recently leaked to TMZ.

Speaking just moments before Silver’s decision, FOX News contributor Jim Gray reported that he had talked to Sterling on the phone earlier Tuesday, and the Clippers owner insisted he would not sell the team.

Gray also mentioned that Sterling was unaware of the punishment he would receive from Silver and had not been contacted by the commissioner regarding his fate. To hear all of Gray’s remarks about his conversation with Sterling, click here.

It is important to note that Sterling’s remarks were made before Silver hit him with a lifetime ban, so the Clippers owner’s stance on his team very well could change now that the NBA’s investigation is over. Still, wresting ownership from stubborn Sterling could prove to be a difficult process.
