Report: Jameis Winston Cited For Allegedly Shoplifting Crab Legs

jameis winstonThe NCAA’s new unlimited meals rule apparently isn’t enough for Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston.

The defending Heisman Trophy winner was issued a misdemeanor citation Tuesday for shoplifting crab legs from a Publix supermarket, multiple sources told SB Nation’s Tomahawk Nation blog.

Tallahassee police clarified in a statement to The Big Lead that Winston was not arrested or booked for his alleged infraction.

Chris Littman of Sporting News also reported receiving the following email from the Tallahassee Police Department around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Winston, who’s also a member of the Florida State baseball team, threw for 4,087 yards and 40 touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore last season while leading the Seminoles to their first BCS national championship since 1999.

UPDATE (11:15 a.m.): A source offered further detail to Tomahawk Nation about Winston’s citation, which reportedly will not show up on his record.

UPDATE (1:25 p.m.): Tomahawk Nation reported, via a source inside the FSU program, that Winston must pay a $30 fine and do community service. Winston also will be suspended from the Seminoles’ baseball team.
