A Red Sox spokesperson told TMZ on Wednesday that Gomes either will donate the jacket or auction it off, with proceeds going to the charity of his choice.

The patriotic outfielder bought several of the bold blazers for teammates a week ago, and he even had one made for President Obama before the team’s White House visit Tuesday. Gomes wore his blazer to the event, making headlines and blowing up Twitter feeds across America.

Gomes hasn’t decided where the jacket will end up, the Red Sox spokesperson told TMZ, but it’s bound to go for much more than the original $395 price tag. As for Jonny, we’re sure he has plenty of other items in his closet to display his American spirit.
