Tiger WoodsTiger Woods is reportedly looking to return to competition at the 2014 Open Championship in July.

Woods announced on April 1 that he had surgery to repair a pinched nerve in his lower back. He missed the Masters, and his fate for the rest of the major golf championships that occur during the summer was uncertain.

The Fox Sports report states that Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg said his client has had “zero setbacks” in his recovery and would return “sometime in the summer.” An unnamed source provided the July 2014 return date, which would have him at the Open.

If Woods does return for the Open, then he will have missed two of the four major golf championships. The U.S. Open occurs in June, while the PGA Championship occurs in August.

Woods has 14 majors wins and needs five more to overcome Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18.
