The reverse is one of the most exciting plays in football.

Two young Rutgers University fans got to experience that excitement this weekend, on the field of their favorite team, no less.

In a cool sceneĀ at the Rutgers’ facility Saturday, 11-year-old Danny Garofalo and 16-year-old Matt DeRiggi took the field at the end of practice for one final play.

DeRiggi took the handoff from Rutgers quarterback Gary Nova and passed it off on the end-around to Garofalo, who wheeled it in for the score before being mobbed by Scarlet Knights players.

It was an especially meaningful moment for Garofalo and DeRiggi, who both suffer from Duchenne muscular dystrophy and have been in wheelchairs for the last three years.

The two boys are avid Rutgers fans and attend many of the Scarlet Knights’ practices and games. On Saturday, though, they got the chance to be more than just spectators.
