Ryan Getzlaf Sports Jaw Protector For Game Two Against Stars (Photo)

In Game 1 of the first round playoff series between the Dallas Stars and the Anaheim Ducks, Ducks star Ryan Getzlaf took a Tyler Seguin slapshot directly to the face.

Getzlaf missed the waning moments of his team’s victory in the opening game, but he wouldn’t miss any more than that. He had the gash stitched up and should be no worse for wear when his team fights for a 2-0 series lead.

While Getzlaf isn’t missing any additional time due to the injury, it will force him to wear a mask to cover the lower portion of his face. The jaw protector looks like a good, if not stylish, idea, especially considering just how large and gruesome the injury was.
