TD Garden will receive quite the facelift this summer.
A privately funded, two-year, $70 million renovation project is set to begin at the home of the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics.
Among the changes in store for the 19-year-old arena are “a relocation and expansion of the Bruins’ Proshop, an overhaul of the concourses on levels four and seven, and renovations of the Garden’s concessions and the Legends Club,” according to The Boston Globe.
Equipment also will be installed to offer free, arena-wide Wi-Fi to all fans — a project that is expected to be completed by the start of the 2014-15 Bruins season.
“It’s our goal to really set the industry standard, the high-water mark, for fan experience,” Boston Bruins principal Charlie Jacobs told the Globe. “And these renovations over the next 24 months I hope will really transform and bring the Garden to the forefront — to set the market standard, if you will — for fan experience, both in-game and also really from the moment when a customer exits their car and begins to enter our facility.”
Jacobs called the renovations, which are scheduled to begin at the conclusion of this year’s Bruins season, “a complete refurbishment.”
“We’re really changing everything from floor to ceiling — no exaggeration,” he said.
