The Columbus Blue Jackets captured their first playoff win in franchise history Saturday night, defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in double-overtime in Game 2 of their first-round series.

The Blue Jackets qualified for the playoffs for the first time in the 2008-09 season, but they lost four consecutive games to the Detroit Red Wings, who eventually fell to the Penguins in the Stanley Cup Final. Columbus had not reached the postseason again until this year, and they dropped Game 1 to the Pens on Wednesday, but they finally captured the elusive playoff win in their second meeting with Pittsburgh.

Columbus, who overcame a two-goal deficit, received some late-game heroics from Matt Calvert to lift the Blue Jackets past the Pens. Calvert, who had tallied a shorthanded goal earlier in the game to mark his first playoff goal of his career, came in clutch just a minute into the second overtime, scoring his second goal of the night to give Columbus the historic win.

Columbus’ victory evens the series at a game apiece, as the teams head to Columbus for Games 3 and 4.
