BOSTON — The Bruins’ power play has been incredibly effective in the team’s first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Detroit Red Wings.

The B’s struck twice with the man advantage in the first two periods of Saturday’s Game 5 at TD Garden.

The second strike came with the second period winding down, when Patrice Bergeron fed Zdeno Chara with a slick pass, and the captain fired a one-timer past Detroit goaltender Jonas Gustavsson to give Boston a 2-1 lead with 3.8 seconds on the clock.
