Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin suffered an apparent right leg injury during Russia’s game against Germany at the World Hockey Championship on Sunday.

Ovechkin was hip-checked near the Russian blue line by Germany’s Marcus Kink, with Ovi’s right knee making contact with him. Ovechkin was in obvious pain as he stayed on the ice for a couple of minutes following the hit.

NaughtyWhiteEthiopianwolfAccording to Slava Malamud of Sport-Express.ru, the Russian captain had to be helped off the ice by his teammates and he did not put any pressure on his right leg.

Malamud also reported that Ovechkin was taken off in an ambulance, and while the severity of the injury has not yet been determined, it does not look promising for the Caps star.
