When Oakland Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick stepped to the plate to the sultry tune of George Michael’s “Careless Whisper” last Monday, A’s fans went wild.

Imagine if George Michael himself showed up at the O.co Coliseum.

That’s what the A’s hope will happen, as the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the club is working on getting the “Careless Whisper” crooner to make an appearance at an upcoming game.

The English singer/songwriter is far removed from the world of sports and probably has little connection to the game of baseball, but the popularity of one of his hit songs in the Oakland area might be too great to ignore. See for yourself in the video below.

Reddick is clearly not alone in his musical tastes, as his teammates and A’s fans apparently all love them some George Michael. For Oakland’s sake, let’s hope the “whispers” are true. Take it away, George.
