It was a great day to be a member of the Gregor family on Saturday.

Houston Astros prospect Conrad Gregor launched his first home run of the 2014 season for the Quad Cities River Bandits, and his blast couldn’t have landed in the hands of a better — or more proud —  fan.

At the time, most people thought a very enthusiastic man impressively corralled the homer, but after the game, Gregor told the Quad City Times it was his father, Marty, who had actually made the grab.

“That was my dad. … He may have to watch every game from out there. It’s a little unbelievable, but I’m glad my parents were here to see it and when I got back to the dugout, I heard he made a pretty good catch.”

Gregor’s parents drove five hours from Carmel, Ind., to catch the game that their family won’t be forgetting any time soon.
