There are some people who like Carlos Gomez, and plenty of people who don’t. We’re guessing that Joey Votto falls into the latter category.

The Cincinnati Reds slugger was victimized by Gomez yet again on Thursday night when the Milwaukee Brewers center fielderĀ made a leaping catch in center field to rob Votto of a home run in the first inning. A frustrated Votto was not shy about showing his displeasure after the play.

This is not the first time that Gomez has taken a would-be homer away from Votto. Last July, the fiery outfielderĀ made a nearly identical play to take a go-ahead, two-run homer away from Votto in the ninth inning. You can see just how similar Gomez’s two web gems are in the video below.

Votto shouldn’t feel too bad, though, as Gomez has made a remarkable habit of taking away homers in the past two seasons. According to ESPN, Gomez has robbed six home runs since the beginning of the 2013 season. The next closest outfielder has two.

Votto and the Reds finally were able to get the last laugh after Gomez’s most recent heroics. While Gomez’s highlight-reel play sealed the win for the Brewers last year, a pinch-hit home run from Brayan Pena sparked an 8-3 win for the Reds on Thursday.

Take that, Carlos.
