Boston Red Sox right-hander Clay Buchholz wins Amica Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time this season after putting together his second win of the year on Friday night against the Oakland Athletics.
Buchholz pitched into the seventh inning, giving up just one earned run on three hits and three walks. He struck out five while throwing 110 pitches, and he displayed arguably his best cutter of the season for a 7-1 win over A’s pitcher Dan Straily.
Buchholz had a solid rebound from his last start in Toronto, where he gave up three runs in the first inning, then blanked the Blue Jays in the next six.
