David Ortiz Homers Twice, Ties For Third-Most In Red Sox History (Video)

The Boston Red Sox were dealt a disappointing loss by the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night, but it wasn’t without its bright spots.

Starter Jake Peavy was roughed up, allowing five runs in the second inning and giving the Red Sox offense a big deficit to fill. They did just that, tying the score at 6 in the seventh inning. More than half of those runs were thanks to David Ortiz.

Big Papi hit two solo home runs in a four-RBI game. That not only gives him nine home runs on the season so far, but it also puts him at 382 in a Red Sox uniform, tied with Jim Rice for third-most all time.

The Twins walked off with the win after Chris Parmelee’s two-run homer, but Ortiz’s accomplishment certainly didn’t go unrecognized.
