Dennis HickeyMiami Dolphins players might want to lay off Twitter for a little while.

Just one day after Dolphins center Mike Pouncey drew some ire for making a hazing joke after his team drafted offensive lineman Ja’Waun James, teammate Don Jones finds himself in hot water in the wake of his own controversial tweets.

Jones, a second-year cornerback out of Arkansas State, tweeted “OMG” and “horrible” just minutes after the St. Louis Rams drafted Missouri defensive end Michael Sam, making him the first openly gay player drafted in the NFL.

The tweets were later deleted, but not before they caught the eye of Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey, who reprimanded Jones’ actions on Saturday night.

“I was made aware of it and I was disappointed in those comments,” Hickey said, via ESPN. “That’s not what we stand for as an organization. The draft weekend is a culmination for so many players, their lifetime achievement of their dream to achieve a goal for Michael Sam and all the other players.”

Hickey added that the Dolphins plan to sit down and discuss the comments with Jones and “handle it appropriately.”

Pouncey met with the Miami front office over the weekend and shut down his Twitter account after the meeting, so a similar fate could be in store for Jones.
