Elin Nordegren cracked a few jokes about Tiger Woods during her commencement speech earlier this month, but the former model is far from being stuck in the past.
The recent Rollins College graduate broke her silence on Woods for the first time since their messy divorce in 2010, telling People magazine that things are “really good” between her and her ex-husband.
“I have moved on, and I am in a good place,” the 34-year-old said. “Our relationship is centered around our children, and we are doing really good — we really are. He is a great father.”
While Nordegren and Woods certainly are in a healthy place now, she admits that wasn’t the case when news of his life as a serial cheater began to surface in 2009. Nodegren told People she was devastated by Woods’ infidelity, and she went through intensive therapy to get through the hard times.
“In the beginning, you tamp down the animosity for the kids’ sake,” she said. “I’m not going to deny that I went through the wringer. But I don’t think I doubted we’d end up here. That was always my dream, that the kids can have two loving parents that show respect for each other. And I feel that’s what they have.”
Nordegren also told People her and Woods see each other regularly, living just 25 minutes apart in South Florida, where they share custody of their two children.
