With adidas’ help, France is trying to toss one of its most shameful soccer moments into the dustbin of history.
On Monday, adidas France destroyed the bus on which the French national soccer team staged an infamous protest and subsequent strike during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Adidas’ public destruction of France’s 2010 World Cup bus took place three weeks before Les Blues kick off their 2014 World Cup campaign. They play Honduras, Switzerland and Ecuador in Group E as they look to improve on its disastrous early exit of four years ago.
Riding on a different bus could help improve team morale. So could the absences of Nicolas Anelka and Patrice Evra — they’re not around to spark a player revolt. Nor is former head coach Raymond Domenech, who gave them both a target and fodder for rebellion.
