The Internet has been abuzz this week over Tara, the cat who protected her owner, 4-year-old Jeremy Triantafilo, by chasing away a vicious stray dog Tuesday in Bakersfield, Calif.

Here’s the video, in case you’ve been living under a rock:

Tara quickly was elevated to hero status after footage of her rescue went viral, with the Triantafilo family even appearing on the “Today” show Thursday to share their story.

The local Minor League Baseball team, the Bakersfield Blaze (Cincinnati’s Class-A affiliate), took notice, as well, and invited the feline and its family to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before next Tuesday’s game.

Don’t ask us how, exactly, a cat will be able to throw out a first pitch, but regardless, the event will be helping out a good cause. Fans who bring an animal toy or animal food to the ballpark will receive half-price tickets, with all donations going to local charities or shelters.
