The Leon County Sheriff’s office released an investigation report Tuesday detailing the minor shoplifting incident by the Florida State quarterback, who was cited last week for stealing crab legs from a Publix grocery store in Tallahassee.

According to the report, Winston walked into the store and ordered four pounds of seafood, including three pounds of crab legs, and a package of butter. As he neared the front of the store, the Heisman Trophy winner paused in front of a Leon County deputy who was working in the store before walking behind him toward the exit.

The deputy and a Publix employee assumed Winston was walking outside to get a shopping cart but soon realized that he had walked out without paying when he didn’t return.

The 20-year-old Winston, who, according to employees, is a regular at the grocery store, was not arrested but was issued a citation for petty theft and forced to complete 20 hours of community service as part of a pre-trial diversion program.

The two-sport star was also suspended from the Florida State baseball team and missed the team’s weekend doubleheader against Minnesota before being reinstated on Sunday.
