BOSTON — It didn’t take long for things to boil over Friday at Fenway Park.

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell was ejected in the first inning of Friday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays after David Price drilled David Ortiz with his first pitch of the at-bat. Both benches were warned, and Farrell seemingly grew upset because Price wasn’t ejected.

The Red Sox and Rays, of course, were involved in a bench-clearing incident Sunday at Tropicana Field. Rays shortstop Yunel Escobar exchanged words with the Red Sox’s dugout in the seventh inning of that game after taking third base with Tampa Bay leading 8-3. Jonny Gomes rushed in from left field during Sunday’s incident, at which point the benches emptied.
