The Chicago Blackhawks had no answer for the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night, as the Kings scored three unanswered goals en route to a 4-3 win in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals.

On the bright side, the Kings had no answer for Jonathan Toews.

The Blackhawks captain was in top form on Saturday, scoring two goals in the first period to run his postseason total to eight goals in 15 games during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Toews’ first score was the result of pure effort and skill, as he picked the pocket of Kings forward Justin Williams at the red line and outskated the Los Angeles defense before beating goalie Jonathan Quick five-hole with a quick hesitation move.

After the Kings evened the score at 1-1, Toews struck again when he settled a bouncing puck in front of the net with a quick kick to his forehand before chipping it in for his second goal of the night.

The resilient Kings will be tough to beat, as they continue to find a way to win with their backs against the wall and now own a 2-1 series lead.

If the Blackhawks are able to claw their way back, though, they’ll have their captain to thank for his continued strong play.
