BOSTON — The Red Sox apparently are growing quite fond of grand slams.

Jonny Gomes connected on Boston’s third grand slam in eight days — and second in two days — Saturday to give the Red Sox a 4-0 lead over the Oakland Athletics at Fenway Park. Gomes joined Dustin Pedroia and A.J. Pierzynski in Boston’s ongoing grand slam parade.

Pedroia launched a grand slam off Ryan Cook in the sixth inning of Friday’s 7-1 victory over the A’s, and Pierzynski smacked one off Chad Jenkins in the third inning of last Saturday’s 7-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Gomes took Oakland starter Tommy Milone deep into the Monster seats in the first inning Saturday.
