Matt CainThere has been a new development in San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Matt Cain’s sandwich injury.

Cain was put on the 15-day DL Monday, retroactive to April 25, with a cut on his right index finger. It was a known fact that it happened when he dropped a knife while cutting a sandwich in the team kitchen.

Cain provided the reason Monday as to why he was cutting the sandwich, and perhaps he should have kept it to himself to avoid more embarrassment.

“I went to cut it, to make it fancy in triangles,” Cain told SFGate’s Henry Schulman.

Some advice to Cain: Maybe next time you should just eat the sandwich instead of worrying about how it looks.
