P.K. Subban can’t wait to get back to Boston.
After his Canadiens routed the Bruins 4-0 on Monday night in Montreal to force a winner-take-all Game 7 at TD Garden, the young defenseman told NBC’s Pierre McGuire that he relishes the chance to clinch the second-round Stanley Cup playoff series on enemy ice.
“I love it,” Subban said. “That’s what playoffs is all about. I hope the crowd is louder than in here. I hope it gets nasty. I hope it gets dirty. At the end of the game, when you’re shaking hands, whoever wins, that’s what the feeling is all about. Knowing that you battled, knowing that you went through a war. You know what? We’re gonna be there at the end standing tall.”
The Bruins had a chance to close out the series in six games but were overwhelmed Monday by the Habs, who played with much greater urgency in the blowout win at Bell Centre. Penalty minutes abounded in the final minute of that contest, as Boston’s Zdeno Chara, Milan Lucic and Jarome Iginla tangled with Montreal defensemen Andrei Markov and Mike Weaver long after the outcome had been decided.
