Patriots Running Back Shane Vereen: Wrist Still Isn’t 100 Percent

hane VereenShane Vereen broke his wrist in the New England Patriots’ Week 1 win over the Buffalo Bills in 2013 and continued to play through the injury as he gutted his way through his most productive game as a pro.

Vereen is still feeling the after effects of that injury, which landed him on the Patriots’ short-term injured reserve list until Week 10.

“I feel good,” Vereen told “PFW in Progress” on Thursday. “Through most of when I did come back, through most of the end of the season, I was fine with it. It’s day to day. It’s not gonna feel great tomorrow, it’s not gonna feel awful. It won’t be 100 percent probably for a while, but it’s good enough, and I’m working on strengthening it and getting it back.”

Vereen wouldn’t blame his wrist, or the cast he had to wear, on his drops last season. Vereen had nine drops, according to ProFootballFocus.com, and he had an especially hard time on over the shoulder throws from quarterback Tom Brady. Vereen said those passes hang in the air longer but that there is no excuse for why he made those drops.
